Re: Short Conversation

There are many religions who make may misinterpret scriptures, but have tolerance for those who may see it differently. Why does the coC see the need to condescend every religion that does not agree with their interpretation of Truth? They love to assign the term "you're not interested in truth...

Re: Short Conversation

I picked up on the fact that she said she has a direct connection with God, which is the antithesis of what the coC teaches.. I was going to bring that up but she cut me off.

Short Conversation

I have a relative who is coC and I get ads on facebook of a page dedicated to the the coc cause. Out of curiosity I check the site out and immediately saw the attitude that caused me to leave the coC. Arrogance was prevalent and self-confirmation of why they are the only ones saved. One particular p...

Re: If you could change the coC...

Those who are in the driver seat in the coC see no reason for change. It's those in the flock who are followers and indoctrinated into something that is not truth (to them) who need to initiate change, or leave. Better off leaving because change isn't gonna happen with the current leadership. It's a...

Re: If you could change the coC...

The CoC does really only believe in works. It's such a change in mindset for us, to believe that God loves us and his Grace will cover sins. Yes, it does. The CoC is unfortunately promoting that sin can cost you salvation. Perhaps so but no one can say at what point. For this reason you are left in...

Re: If you could change the coC...

I,too, think they are on their way out. It can't happen soon enough. Freedom does not live in the fundamentalist coC and their demise would set a lot of caged believers free. The main thing I would like to see changed is their misunderstanding of grace. They give lip service to the power of grace, b...

If you could change the coC...

If you had the ability to make changes to the fundamental coC what would they be?

Re: False teachings of the CoC

It's "pick and choose" theology. They use principles that are not mentioned in the NT. They say you can't do something unless the NT says you can. Where is this principle mentioned in the NT? It's not. So they speak where the bible doesn't, and this violates their own teaching of speak whe...

Re: When the roots in the coc run deep

Deep roots here, too. My Great Grandparents, Grandparents, Parents and my brothers all coC. All of my Aunts and uncles were coC along with most of my cousins. Preachers, Elders, Deacons were everywhere in my family. Interestingly most of my cousins have left. My Aunts and Uncles have passed on so my...

Re: Early Christianity

The coC is so obsessed with emulation, as if emulation is what God wants. Anyone can emulate the early churches without any spiritual conviction at all. This desire to "look righteous" shows just how superficial the coC doctrine is. They could care less about the inner man. As long as the ...
