Re: Mission trips, or Christian tourism?

Or paid vacations for the elders and deacons and their families. Forget those who truly want to go on mission trips!

Do you have a favorite Bible?

Maybe a different version or translation than coc approved? I really liked the Complete Jewish Bible by David H. Stern. But it was a one man translation!!! Wasn't Hugo McCord's also? Most thought if you didn't use a KJV Thompson Chain Reference like Peter and Paul, it was hell-bound for you!

Re: That Time of Year Again

A friend just posted on Facebook and proudly announced her Christmas shopping was finished. All her loved ones will receive a copy of Muscle and a Shovel. Personally, I'd rather have coal in my stocking.

Re: That Time of Year Again

First, happy birthday Ivy! Second, FinallyFree, I really enjoy your posts. Re: The old guard is slowly going away

I don't think the church will die off. I do think changes are coming. It has to change or adapt, or it will die. There are some young preachers out there who know this. I've seen some up-and-coming preachers giving the church a more welcoming, slick look as more old biddies and bubbas die off.

Re: Bible Studies All The Time

The little church I grew up in had no library. It was just a place to meet Sundays and Wednesday. The preacher probably had a few books at home. And though most used KJV, ASV was encouraged. The church I attented in the "big city" had a library but it was mostly books and works by old time...
