Re: Has Anyone Had This Happen?

Isn't it odd they focus so much on Paul's teachings which were more rule based?

Has Anyone Had This Happen?

My cousin who seldom went to church in her life is now a full fledged Church of Christ member at 60. Her husband doesn't go. I think it happened because her parents my aunt and uncle needed someone to drive them. And they didn't get into that church or any church until about 2010 or so. I guess she ...

Re: Ditched at the Altar for Being Baptist

Pentecostal can cover a wide range of beliefs. But the ones I know the women are skirts only, long hair and no secular entertainment. I was buddies with someone who married a lot older guy,( not together now AFIK), and they went to his brothers' Pentecostal church. I was already familiar with the fa...

Ditched at the Altar for Being Baptist

The 3rd story down on Reddit is Church of Christ to a T . I agree why proceed with a wedding knowing your fiance is Baptist? It makes no sense to get this woman's hopes up only to crush them. It says on down the groom hoped to convert her and even went to her church but she wasn't feeling it. If tru...

Re: Childless, Mothers/Fathers Day and Church of Christ

All in all, the CofC people I have known were kind and loving people, even though judgmental and narrow minded. I haven't posted here in a while but yeah some of them go out of their way to help and mean well. I wondered how this grocer store owner years ago could be part of it. He was a life long ...

Re: The Church is Under Attack!

haven't been around much lately but can relate to warnings of the more 'liberal' churches of Christ. They talk about division being sinful yet many of hem have divided .

Re: Childless, Mothers/Fathers Day and Church of Christ

I never thought about how recognizing mothers could make childless people feel badly. " Yes especially if you belong to pro-natal religious groups. They also could have had abusive/neglectful moms then there are moms who lost children. DH and I don't have kids and he has been gray a long time. ...

Childless, Mothers/Fathers Day and Church of Christ

I know many non parents skip Mother's/ Fathers day.Maybe that's one reason many turn from churches. It's geared to families with kids. I was for one glad Co C didn't really emphasize it that much. I'm married but no kids and I can't imagine being childless and the church has mothers or fathers to st...

Re: The Willis Family

^The family who drove off the cliff shows it doesn't take religion to be an abuser or have a ' savior'' complex. All of these families tried to be picture perfect. I wondered how on earth the Harts were allowed to adopt again given the history. Think of all the infertile people that would be glad to...
