Re: Religion vs Spirituality
Such visuals to me just ring false, and as a product of fuzzy thinking/illogic. But I could be prejudiced by the various people I've met who claimed the 'spiritual but not religious' title. Fuzzy thinking - having a hard time is 'going through hell' and 'being spiritual' means everything is sweetnes...

Re: Religion vs Spirituality
Along the lines of what Agricola was saying...there is religion with spirituality. Just because one is religious does not mean one is or must be devoid of spirituality. ;) And for many persons, it is hard to develop or maintain their spirituality when they are not connecting in some way with other ...

Re: Native American beliefs
Mostly myth. I live in 'Indian Country' (hah). The local tribes are Shoshone and Paiute, with a scattering of Navaho (the largest tribe, and they travel). Native Americans are people. There are cultural differences which often translate into 'spirituality' because, unlike most European-Americans, mo...

Re: Religion vs Spirituality
(found someplace) "Spirituality is a continuing personal relationship with the divine. Religion is crowd control." Mind you, there is nothing WRONG with 'crowd control', but when it mistakes its mission for the purpose of the exercise entirely, it loses its path. the problem in my opinion ...

Re: Ask about Judaism
Many times, when numbers are presented in scripture, they are symbolic or meaningful, and not 'real'. Twelve and multiples of 12 are frequently found. Seven is a good one. So is three. Forty is a real big one. These aren't 'real numbers' but are symbolic values.

Re: Ask about Judaism
The Jewish interpretation gets a boost, because the VERB 'God created' is SINGULAR (even though the word used for 'god' in that place is Elohim, which is a plural construction (sort of) - it is translated into English as 'God' but actually means 'high ones', and in some passages that SAME word is tr...
