What I heard taught was that it wasn't really "ok" but was just "permitted" for the "innocent party".

What could possibly go wrong? They start counseling church members with serious mental illness, marital and family issues, etc, instead of referring to professionals? 🙄😧😳

From what I remember, cofc people would worry about the issue of Catholic monks doing the translating.
We were assured that God would have guided the monks in the translations so they wouldn't get it wrong.
There was therefore nothing to worry about.
