I would love to go on a cruise in Antarctica. Wow. I'm jealous.

Re: What the CoC is right about?

Infants have no knowledge or awareness they are being baptized, so it doesn't force them into anything. It is just symbolic and sprinkles some water on their heads. They don't know or care what is going on. Confirmation takes place at different ages in different religions. With Presbyterian it is ar...

Re: What the CoC is right about?

Infant baptism is "confirmed" when the child reaches a certain age, usually 15 or 16. So they really are given a choice as a later age.

https://christianchronicle.org/most-church-of-christ-members-in-the-u-s-reside-in-a-red-state/ This is an older article but it shows a map of where C of C are most prevalent in the USA. I must say I have not seen any C of C church in the area I live in now (southeastern Idaho). Interesting. Not a si...

Re: Women required by scripture to wear skirts to church

The CoC I grew up in had a preacher who actually preached women could not wear pants to worship. The logic was somewhat tortured. And he wasn't a real conservative type overall. I remember he would also say in his sermons he would rather one of his daughters marrying a black person who was a Christ...

Re: Reverse consequences of withdrawal of fellowship

One of the hired preachers at the CoC where I grew up in Texas (we usually got a new one every few years) started preaching that they should disfellowship all the people who weren’t showing up for Wednesday night services. It split the church; one of the elders agreed with him and moved to a city 5...

Re: Remarriage after Divorce/No belief in Divorce

At my last COC, the preacher (and probably others) told a couple they needed to separate after it was discovered that they had previous unscriptural divorces. I don’t know if the divorces were before or after their baptisms, but anyway I don’t think that NICOC gave people a pass based on the sequen...
