Re: CoC congregational splits

Sometimes "serial movers" try to get everyone to join them in leaving a church. I've experienced that. I'm just like, if they've had issues at that church, I'm sorry. But those are not my issues. I even had a woman approach me at the grocery store a few years ago, tell me she knew me from ...

Re: CoC congregational splits

From all I have read on here, the NI people are a lot more dysfunctional. Dysfunctional is an appropriate term. In my area there are serial splitters. One guy and his family have been to and or started NI CoC's all over the area. It is like he and his family are never happy or satisfied. This guy i...

On the topic of hosiery, I was so glad when they went out of style. I never see women wear them anymore. They cost too much money and rip too easily. I also hated being told that if you were pale, you should cover up your pale skin with tan colored hose.

Re: Meeting 5 out of 7 nights each week

I know some rabid C of C'ers who salivate with excitement over every extra service, Bible study, devotional, etc. Most, of course, do have lives outside church, but for those "faithful" few, any extra time together is exciting for them. Cultish. Does it tend to be the older, retired membe...

Re: Crazy things that happened at the building

I knew a girl who had sex in the church building with her boyfriend, who's dad (boyfriend's dad) was the preacher. :P :o  Did Daddy ever find out? She wound up telling her parents because someone found out, the boy went around bragging, and she wanted her parents to hear it from her first. S...

Re: Is the Church of Christ a religious cult?

The JWs visited a few days ago. I realized that all of these little groups that originated in America in the 19th century are basically the same: CoC, JW, SDA, Mormon. They are all law-based cultish groups that know little or nothing about the Gospel. This isn't as true of the mainline CoC anymore;...

Re: Crazy things C of C have judged you for.

I think the NICOC is a different breed of CofC. I don’t think I ever experienced anyone being criticized for words they used. That group is really extreme, from what I have read on here. You are so right about that, FF. From what Struggler has said, he has experienced some of the most extreme of al...
