Re: Salvation by Faith alone? Parable of the vineyards

"unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life in you" BH, are you saying that if someone is not taking communion they have no life in them, per this verse? I always saw that phrase as being a metaphor for immersing onesself into following the Christ. I don't remember ever h...

Re: Salvation by Faith alone? Parable of the vineyards

Hopefully a universal supreme being (if one does exist and does care about what humans do) would have more pure compassion than to flush a new believer who didn't get all of the bases covered before passing on.

I wonder if they ever developed any minimum standards /detailed job descriptions for a FT pray-cher. Just so there are no surprise firings in the middle of the night. But BH, S...

Was this from Breaking Bad? I remember Tuco, but this quote, no.

Never mind, BH. I googled it. It was from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.

Re: Women in Bible Classes in non-institutional churches participation

I was told that in non-institutional CoC Bible classes that women attend but are not allowed to participate in discussions. I am sure this varies with the church but do others have any info or knowledge on this? Back in "my days" in the NICOC, women could, and did, speak in bible class. T...

Re: Ehrman and Strauss's books

It feels kind of odd not to have a religious label, or box, for my personal beliefs. At the same time, it's very freeing. There doesn't have to be a "box".

Re: Ehrman and Strauss's books

I always thought it strange that Saul would name his son Ishba'al when Saul, though messing up a lot, never in the Bible worshiped any god but God. I think Saul and Ishba'al if they existed were probably pagan kings retroactively portrayed as God worshippers. Another thing, David is portrayed as ju...
