Re: If you keep one part of the law, you have to keep it all
Interesting point William and one I have not thought about until you mentioned. I agree that the Gal passage is referring to circumcision. I think it was just chosen as an obvious outward example of an appeal to a physical connection to God's people. I agree with what you are saying that it never s...

Re: If you keep one part of the law, you have to keep it all
Well - actually, when the NT says 'circumcision' that is most likely a short version of 'convert to Judaism' which involves (implicitly) submission to the 'yoke of the Torah' which does mean obeying all of Torah law - that is, being a Jew. Part of the history of the early Christian church is the ev...

If you keep one part of the law, you have to keep it all
"If you keep one part of the law, you are obligated to keep it all" - Anyone ever heard this? I have been having this discussion online with some folks. The idea isn't really biblical - as best I can tell, it is a combination of Gal 5:3 and James 2:10 and then kind of mixing it up a bit mo...

How is she helping you hear from God? Subtle ways, or a voice? Not questioning, just curious. Thanks

Re: The beginning of the end for me
But - but - in that case, how do you know it is even okay to sit DOWN? There's barely a mention in the entire NT about anything concerning what to do or how to do it in 'church'. Maybe they all stood all the time. The Eastern Orthodox don't sit down - maybe they have a more accurate tradition! The ...

Re: Visiting Other Churches
I never understood the whole "God's house" deal with the COC. No food, no coffee, no weddings, no music, no playing cards (I got in trouble for this as a kid). What about the concept of God not dwelling in "houses made with hands"? The COC seems to be of two minds about this. Th...

Re: http://findthechurch.com
There's a very good argument to be made that some kind of 'LS' OUGHT to be performed every single time two or more folks gather together at all. So the Catholics do it 'right' by having communion every day, instead of once a week (or once a month, or once a quarter, as some denominations do it). ok...

I always wondered what the CoC thought of the temple is Ezekiel that had a ... KITCHEN!
Who am I kidding, they would say that is OT, nailed to the cross.

Re: http://findthechurch.com
yes - but - it does in fact provide a service specific to people who think that particular way and want that particular sort of church. Might avoid the situation I was in once as a kid, when we were traveling and stopped for Sunday morning services at a 'coc' (SOF) and discovered half an hour in th...

Re: North Alabama
I left years ago, but I am from Birmingham. I was familiar with some north alabama churches. My brother lived in florence for a while but I don't know what congregation he went to.
