Re: Attendance monitors

Also, what does Hebrew 10:25 really mean for us Christians today? I know other demoninations stress attendance with great emphasis like the coc does. I don't think anyone addressed this part of your post, so I'd like to give my thoughts. In context of the rest of the chapter, this verse definitely ...

Re: "Wednesdays don't count!"

A few years ago I heard a joke about everyone waiting in line at the St. Peter's gate waiting to get into heaven. The people at the back of the line heard loud cheering coming from the front of the line. Finally the people got an answer for all the cheers, the people just ahead of them shouted &quo...

Same here. Every last Sunday of the month. We also host an area wide singing event once a year in the summer. I still enjoy the area wide singing, but dont go every year.

Re: Black-American experiences

I'm white, and I've no direct experience with integrated churches because the ones I went to growing up were 98% white. But when I was a little kid in the South my family would take me to black CofC meetings and OMG I loved it! After the staid, deliberately non-emotional white CofC experience, it w...

Re: Attendance monitors

What if somone said "We didn't miss you"? And you said ffffffftttt back at them? Not sure what "ffffffftttt" means lol. I don't think anyone would be that bold. They prefer to ignore you. BTW regarding my OT I haven't had the talk with her yet. Timing has been off. She's cut bac...

Re: Seen any love?

I have say my experiences are different. maybe because I'm younger. In my generation we dont hear alot of 'fire & brimestone" sermons these days. Churches who do that are shrinking-thank God. Still in regards to shunning I've witnessed that due to prejudice in some form. Also if the elders ...

Re: DEVOTIONALS

Ahh yes. I started going to devotionals during college. There would be a lesson, few hymns, prayer, and then eating. This congregation called them "family circles" it was the alternative to sunday night services. I have to admit I did enjoy them. At my current church ( still worshipping wi...

Re: Seen any love?

Glad you guys had positive experiences with the members. As long as you are in the club they will love you. Its sad that most of these relationships deterioate so quickly due to opposing beliefs.

Re: Attendance monitors

The only suggestion I have as to how you can get her to stop is tell her how you truly feel about her checking up on you. It may hurt her feelings, just be polite as possible and clear about the point you make. As far as Hebrews 10:25, the coc uses it wrongly, mainly to bully members into attendanc...

Re: Theater and arts

How sad!! Despite what they think I would encourage you to continue to support your child’s natural talents. It could make very positive difference in their lives. The coc are notorious for being dream killers. Rolling their eyes? That’s just plain rude and uncalled for. While in elementary I was re...
