Re: Keeping up appearances

That story's been told about as much as the tale of the bloody hook found on the door handle of a car -- and about as scary.

Re: Kooky Communion & Collection Stories

Since we've wandered off topic a little, has anyone ever watched Feed Me Bubbe -- the Jewish Grandmother you never had but always wanted. I really miss her.

Re: Did Your Congregation Have One?

THE BEFRIENDERS. That truly snobbish, selfish family who quickly befriends the new people, taking them to lunch after services, quickly adds them to Facebook, then, just as quickly, drops them like a hot potato once the new people see through the façade. THE HAPPY HOOKER. Usually the sister who sits...

Leadership for the Sake of Leadership

I always hated the hierarchy of the coc, specifically where it came to deacons. There were official deacons and unofficial deacons. That is, some men (and a few women) held jobs in the church but because they didn’t meet the qualifications but did all the work, they did all the work but never given ...

Re: C of C People Can Be Mean

all sounds familiar....my ex-COC had a guy in "leadership" that used to read the names of people who got arrested (published in the local paper) to see if anyone was from the church or someone they knew. One guy got arrested for a suspended license (paid a ticket late and they failed to r...

Good news! Put the fun back into communion! Google matzo under shopping ...

There's now Whole Wheat Matzo, Lightly Salted, Egg & Onion, Chocolate Flavored ...

And my favorite ... BRAN! You know, in case you're not getting enough ... um, "fiber" from coc doctrine!

Re: Kooky Communion & Collection Stories

Why didn't they just come up with a drive thru window for communion? "Yes, I have a BOGO coupon for communion." "Would you like to super-size your order?" "No, thanks." "Lay by as you've been prospered at the first window."

Re: Kooky Communion & Collection Stories

Goodness! That's more horror story than kooky! You know, I really think God's gonna be pissed at most of us. "I left you a manual!!!" No meeting or reasoning together, it's down the middle. Those who read it, ignore it, and the other half try to follow to the letter to where it's absurd.

Re: Bible Versions/Translations

You know, I think the Borg used to be members of the coc. Both say things like, "You will be assimilated." And, "Repentance is futile." OOPS! I meant resistance is futile.

Or did I?
