Re: Why I am led to post

The Holy Spirit will take Scriptures and break them down so that they are understandable to each person's finite mind, and then show how to apply them in everyday life.  That was a very, very nice post, seeking, however, do you believe that reasonable Christians can have disagreements over scripture?

Re: Smoking and the COC

A very few people smoke after services in the parking lot at my mothers church. Some old, some fairly young. I remember my fifth grade Wednesday night teacher chain smoker (who was either an elder or deacon, I don't remember), talking about waking up with yellow sweat, etc. to dissuade us from smok...

I think Billy Joel was Catholic first, then CofC, now I believe he is an atheist. That's an amazing list, ldr, how'd you find all of them??

Re: Recommendations CoC History Thanks

Oh!! I just realized that Glen Campbell was a Campbell...perhaps one of the cofc Campbells. My great grandmother was also a Campbell. Staunch, staunch cofc. So I may be related to them as well. Hey that's right about Glen, he was a Campbellite I guess! I believe toward the end of his life he was ev...

Re: Recommendations CoC History Thanks

I remember the brouhaha over Pat Boone. He got disfellowshipped, but always said he never left the church. But you know, that's the way it goes. Glen Campbell was also raised in the CofC and his brother was a CofC preacher. The CofC recognized him as one of their "wayward members" after hi...

Re: Leading singing/Shape notes and hand movements.

My Dad was the song leader for my congregation, used a pitch pipe and I believe I still have it somewhere. Do you remember the song number boards with the black block numbers (numbers in white surrounded by black)? Well, when I was around 4 or 5, he would take me with him up behind the baptistry and...

You know, it's been a long time, but I don't think so. The college would probably have lost financial support for "teaching evolution", you know.

Re: Leading singing/Shape notes and hand movements.

I'll try. You can find a lot on it by Googling it as well. But briefly, these are just my words: You'll never hear the term "Galatian Heresy" in the CofCs. But the term simply describes or summarizes the fact that Paul's letter to the Galatian church was written because they had turned to...
