Re: "Traces of the Kingdom" Refutation project

Interesting blog. I often wondered when someone might try to answer Traces of the Kingdom. In my experience, many people referenced his work and my FIL recently brought it up but by this time I had already deemed that work as utterly unviable and totally irrelevant to any of my conclusions to leave ...

Re: CoC congregational splits

From all I have read on here, the NI people are a lot more dysfunctional. Dysfunctional is an appropriate term. In my area there are serial splitters. One guy and his family have been to and or started NI CoC's all over the area. It is like he and his family are never happy or satisfied. This guy i...

Re: Attended Catholic church recently

There is a report from the Houston Chronicle and San Antonio paper about the Southern Baptist Convention's cover up of a long list of sexual crimes by pastor, deacons and youth ministers. I think there are 200 + here in Texas either in prison, on the sex registry or back in a church doing their work...

Re: CoC congregational splits

I think it is a pattern and have witnessed it many times. Since every man is his own pope, they just pick up their bible and carry it on to a new location and start afresh. Like nothing ever happened. Strange occurrences for a group that was started in order to promote Christian unity among all the ...

Re: Hi All

Hi JW, welcome to the board. I agree that to use guilt as a tool in brainwashing is terrible. I for a time resented some of the teachings I received as a child growing up in a family similar to yours. I have come to see that my parents were only doing what they believed to be the best for their chil...

Re: Texas Monthly Magazine bum steer awards

I agree, things don't change very quickly. Established institutions are difficult to change but it does not justify pragmatism, rationalization or ignoring because of status quo or some kind of nostalgia for the past. I think, the state's right issue used today is a poor justification used today to ...

Re: Texas Monthly Magazine bum steer awards

I think it will be a cold day in hell when the C of C addresses the problem of racism in society. Sadly I think I agree with that because rarely does the CoC speak as a group. Individually members have made efforts but where I live there are some that still argue the state's rights issue was the co...

Re: Stock answers of the CoC

I am sure there is a long list of things that contribute to the decline and lack of popularity. And when you have a problem, it's caused by some sin that you're committing and that if you were more spiritual, you wouldn't have this problem. This comment (that the CoC makes) I found quite stupid and ...

Re: Recently left a Tulsa, Oklahoma COC

Welcome, to the board. Hopefully the short time with these folk will wear off of them and they will leave you alone soon. Kind of a didn't stick thing in their reasoning which could bring a quick end to the pestering. Best wishes.

Re: Leaving CoC

Welcome to the board. Unfortunately, the belief that they are the only ones, found or have the truth and are just doing what the the bible says, gives them the ability to pursue and embarrass members of their own family. I know all too well that feeling and truly hope that things go better soon, I k...
