Re: Lingering doubts

Agricola's excellent points about moving away from a controlling family or church.
Yes Agricola has given me excellent advice and has been most helpful. As I said, I have already moved around 6 hours away from my family. Due to our work schedules, kids activities, etc. most of the time they ...

Re: Ask about Judaism

Yes the coc God is very scary, which is why I've never understood how I'm supposed to love him so much. Love me or burn, there's your choices. Many of the coc reformers I've been reading do not believe hell is eternal fire punishment, Al Maxey has a very lengthy and convincing debate with a coc prea...

Re: Ask about Judaism

I like the concept of not burning for eternity for not getting the 5 acts of worship right, sure seems more fitting of a loving and merciful God. I worked with a Jewish ER physician and we would talk a lot on slow nights, but we never really discussed his afterlife beliefs. Kind of wished I would've...

Re: Lingering doubts

I'm already 6 hours away-which is good and bad. Bad that the visits are mentally exhausting and there's no escaping after a couple hours like if we could just drop by for a visit, especially now that the husband does not attend church and the conversations always come up about how sad that is, plus ...

Re: Lingering doubts
No it isn't. It is far too high a price. Who 'rules' your family? you and your husband, or your parents? You are taking yourself and children to a place where you get no spiritual nourishment, no true friends, and no comfort for you or your children. How is that a good ou...

Re: Lingering doubts

Thanks for all the encouraging responses. Several years ago I was actually part of a coc that I really loved and was pretty active in. The sermons were actually encouraging (this was the first time I ever remember hearing a sermon about gods grace and love), they had programs that helped out in the ...

Lingering doubts

For those of you who have left coc, do you still have lingering doubts of "what if they are right"? If so, how do you deal with it, and especially for those with children, how do you deal with the feeling that you are setting your children up for hell if you are not teaching them "the...

Hi there

I've been lurking on here for a while now and thought it was time for me to say hello to everyone. My family roots run very deep in the coc so unfortunately I do not see a way out, although mentally I left a long time ago. This board has helped me tremendously and it's been so comforting realizing t...
