Re: Need Advice

I am not familiar with the congregations you recently attended. Are the Mission Point (San Antonio) and the San Diego COC actually part of the ICOC, despite their names? If you have been in the ICOC all this time, I expect you will be contacted and encouraged to return. SOME regular COCs likewise har...

Re: http://findthechurch.com

I checked out my old churches. The faithful in my home town (Midland, TX) seem to have shrunk to the point of meeting in a small pre-fab steel building, next door to the Jehovah’s Witnesses. There were prophets and prophetesses that wrote and delivered their testimonies of the many trials, tribulations, signs, and...

Re: Ridiculous reasons for splits....

The Catholic and Baptist are Adidas and Nike. The Church of Christ is Walmart brand. If you lurk in C of C groups online, all they talk about is how they can stop dying, and how they can attract new members without sacrificing scriptural correctness. It's so futile, it reminds me of Nora Desm...

Re: Shrinking Presbyterian

A few years ago, the denomination split over LBGT issues. Same thing the Methodists are doing currently. I don’t know how that affected total members, but it couldn't have helped.

Where did you go after the Methodists?
I am not attending any church right now. My rural area doesn’t offer much variety.

Re: The Methodists

The denomination is experiencing a major division. The stated reason is whether gays and lesbians can be married in the church, by Methodist pastors. However, underlying themes are MONEY and POLITICS. Episcopalians, Presbyterians, and one branch of Lutherans (ELCA) had similar splits in past years. ...
