Re: Tax Reform Bill
Pls don't form your opinion on the media releases. Read the changes for yourself. It is still too early to tell what the final bill will look like. That being said, there is a web site called Marketwatch.com that has all the House changes built into it so you can key your 2016 tax information into i...

Re: Minimum Wage of $15
it is obvious to anyone with at least half a brain that $22 is the proper amount for minimum wage for full time work. How else do we expect parents working at Wendy's to be able to provide for their families. Anything below $22 hour is tantamount to slavery. And yet, people keep righteously demandi...

Re: Minimum Wage of $15
I know you realize when wages are increased the price of goods & services also increase. McDonalds will willingly pay their employees $25 per hour as long as their customers are willing to pay $10+ for a Big Mac. At that point it becomes more cost effective to automate & eliminate employees...

Re: Minimum Wage of $15
OTHER similar businesses pay FAR better than Walmart - and hire the same kind of people who do the same kind of jobs - and yet, those businesses still manage to be profitable to the shareholders. As to customer service, in a way, you get what you pay for: if Walmart pays a wage too low to actually ...

Re: Minimum Wage of $15
I re-emphasize my earlier post. Raising the min wage is inflationary. It is not the answer. It's effect is short term and is only a band aid to a systemic problem. Provide the educational opportunities for those who are willing to improve their situation. Give them the ability to earn more. There wi...

Re: Minimum Wage of $15
Teresa, I am a believer that the individual should direct his life as he sees fit. It is my hope that he would do so rationally and that he would deal with others rationally and without the use of force. When a society is told that the "highest good" is for the state and that individuals ...

Re: Minimum Wage of $15
Part of the reasons for the licensing is revenue generation on the state and local level. The other part is regulating professionals which I have no problem with. I am also a CPA and I don't want just anyone to be able to hold them-self out as an accounting professional. Same for physicians. I do t...

Re: Minimum Wage of $15
Well in past years those people unfortunate enough to be injured or ill generally just quietly died off, thus saving society untold amounts of money. I should not have to rely on the 'kindness of strangers' for sheer survival if I am unable to provide alone. I should be able to rely instead of the ...

Re: Minimum Wage of $15
And whether we like it or not, there will always be a stratified socio-economic scale. There will always be those on the bottom rungs. I have very mixed feelings about societies obligation to take care of them. Our current wellfare system is a result of our effort to fulfill this supposed obligatio...
