Re: Strange Encounter
Ohh I'm in the Bible Belt and just about every denomination advertises their Wednesday services. Definitely not just a COC thing in my area, but they probably still have the monopoly on if you aren't attending that said Wednesday night services then its eternal hell fire for you.

Hi and welcome Karen2. Hopefully you will find healing here. Being raised COC was tough, but I try to remind myself it could've been worse, I could've been born into a Jehovah's Witness family or the Duggars

Re: The impact of fundamentalism
The submissive woman thing uhh makes me nauseous. Several weeks ago my daughter was quizzing me on how my husband and I make decisions. Re: How did you get into the church of Christ? SURVEY
Both my parents came from Mothers that joined the COC as adults, neither dad ever did as far as I am aware of. My dad's dad was an alcoholic and my mom's dad died when she was really young before her mom ever converted. Things were really tough for my mom, not a pleasant childhood at all. I think th...

Re: Wine
Because that's just a translation error...the Bible is perfect but has translation errors. Obviously wine was translated incorrectly by them evil Catholics because they live to get drunk! Wine=juice Jesus turned the water into juice because everybody drinks juice at weddings, especially the goods ju...

Re: Attendance monitors
Oh they are still going. There's one at my church this week. Pretty much pointless. Its not like they are baptizing anybody. They really should get rid of them.[/quote]
A lot of the "Gospel Preachers" would fight that, seeing that that's how they make their extra money.

Oh ya, it's still a thing. For us it's fifth Sunday night singing, and it's actually tonight.
