Every member of the same species having something in common is kind of what makes a species a species. The human ability to cooperate on complex tasks for long periods of time in variety of different circumstances is what made humans out-compete other animals trying to get the same resources we have. An average chimpanzee can literally rip the arm off an elite human athlete and beat them to death with it. A single human with a primitive spear fighting a single chimpanzee, is probably more of a 50/50 proposition. Give me a dozen humans with spears working together, willing to risk themselves for one another versus 12 chimps, and it would be a lopsided slaughter.

Very true - we make great mobs and wonderful gangs - not slamming us, either! We are remarkable successful BECAUSE of it.
History is the fiction we invent to persuade ourselves that events are knowable and that life has order and direction. That's why events are always reinterpreted when values change. We need new versions of history to allow for our current prejudices.

Turtle, are you still around? I have wondered what has happened to you and if you were able to leave church or find some kind of peace?
