Having Surgery

Post by Moogy »

Next week, I will have surgery to straighten my scoliosis and fuse my entire lumbar spine. The goal is to eliminate, or more likely just to reduce, my chronic back pain. It is a two-day procedure with a day of rest between the two parts. I am 65, and if I don’t have surgery now, I may not be a surgical candidate later. I will have the surgery at a major neurosurgical medical center where my son is currently finishing up his residency.

I appreciate any thought or prayers you can send my way. :|

Hope all goes well, hopefully you will have as good an outcome as Tiger Woods and his surgery. I know the pain is a real problem. Stay positive.

My best wishes, hopes and prayers for you. I have lived with scoliosis as well all my life, but not as severe as yours. Will they be having you stand up and move soon after the second surgery>

Whoa.
That sounds major, but it also sounds like it will be an improvement for your quality of life, too! Good luck and I hope it works really well. Back pain is the pits.
History is the fiction we invent to persuade ourselves that events are knowable and that life has order and direction. That's why events are always reinterpreted when values change. We need new versions of history to allow for our current prejudices.

Moogy, I am praying that the surgery provides the pain-relief you seek and for a speedy recovery.

Let us know how it goes. I'm thinking of surgery for scoliosis, too, since mine causes me to walk with a limp sometimes and walk a lot slower. I've thought about surgery myself. Hope everything works out for you.
